Independence Day

The Sams held a graduation party for Lamoni in Bloomfield over 4th of July weekend. We went to Bloomfield's Olde Tyme Fourth celebration which was great. It began with a short parade (with fire trucks!) and then there was a gathering with games, bounce houses and vendors. There weren't many people there and it was geared towards kids.

Waving his flag at the parade.

On a tractor ride after the parade to the park.

Playing games at the park.

We had a flag ceremony before we went to the parade. Ever since then Benjamin puts his flag up at our house and "says" the Pledge of Allegiance and sings the national anthem.

Benjamin loves playing with Grandpa Bear.

Grandma Bear is great with Peter!

We were the only ones visiting so there was lots of grandma/bampa time!

The day after we got there Benjamin woke up super grumpy and fussy. He had gotten plenty of sleep and he still was grumpy after eating breakfast. If he is like that and it isn't solved by sleep or food it means one thing - he's sick. Sure enough I held him while he was throwing a fit at the table and he was burning hot. It turns out he had Hand Foot Mouth disease! It was unfortunate because it was the day of Lamoni's graduation party his parents threw him and Leena's 3rd birthday party. He slept almost the whole morning and then seemed fine besides his fever.

This is the worst the spots got - not bad at all!

We stuck around and lounged all day Sunday. It was so nice and relaxing!
