August 2018

In August we had our big Lake Winnie trip/family reunion.

Good times are always had in the lodge. Lots of game playing!

Uncle Lamoni is so fun with all the cousins.

August 1st was our 6th anniversary. It was my turn to plan and we went to El Pinto.

This is Peter in a nutshell. Note the marker covering his entire body.

Peter nursing.

At a rest stop on the way to MN. Jacob drove with us and we picked Michael up at the airport in St. Paul and brought him the rest of the way.

We stayed at Grammy's one night and then stopped by Mall of America for some fun. We did a bit of shopping and the boys picked one ride to go on. It was so fun that when a cousin asked Benjamin if he had been to Disneyland before he said "yes." I asked him about it and he thought Mall of America was Disneyland!

Peter enjoyed the boat rides this year. Last time we were here he was a 2 month old baby and didn't like his life jacket.

The boys sat next to each other in the back after we picked Michael up. They thought that was really cool.

At Grammy's house the boys played with frogs outside. Those poor frogs. It brought back a flood of memories playing outside at her house.

The ride the boys picked. Peter was actually thrilled to ride the truck although you can't tell...

There was a lego play area that we spent an hour at.

Grandma started teaching Benjamin how to swim. I'm pretty sure there's a picture just like this of her teaching me.

Everyone caught lots of fish. Some huge and some tiny!

Peter thought he was actually driving the boat and couldn't understand why he had to share Papa and the wheel with all the other cousins.

No fear.

Michael always makes things so fun for the kids. Here he took them on a wagon ride to see the ducks.

A family canoe ride.

Peter sat here for hours at the beach just playing and playing. A few of the kids got leeches but Peter didn't.

At the lodge watching movies.

A day's catch

Peter is an avid marshmallow eater. He doesn't waste them on s'mores.

Lamoni took the grandmas on a boat ride and they had a great time.

Daddy was pretty happy with some of his catches.

Daily ice cream

We got to see more of Uncle Joseph

Benjamin and Lydia hit it off. They were talking to each other for 30 minutes straight.

Good byes with Grammy. We're so glad she's in Arizona for the winter so we can see her more.

24 hours is a very long car ride.

On the way back we stopped in De Smet, SD to see a Laura Ingalls site. I've been reading Little House on the Prairie, so he was excited to see some of the things we had read about.

Like the type of buggy that Almanzo gave Laura rides in.

Helping me make pancakes.

We had Jared and Uriah for a few days. Here we are at the zoo.

Peter loves baby Brookie.

Grandma, Dantes and Qunisa came for a couple of days. We went on a field trip to a farm in Moriarity. It was awesome. We took a hayride around the field and stopped at the different fields so the kids could pick some vegetables and bring them home.

One of the farm ladies said that her kids love eating corn raw. I had never heard of that so when we got home the kids tried it and it was a hit! It helps that their corn was so sweet and juicy.

At our neighborhood park with Dantes and Qunisa.
