Picture dump from June 2016

Looking back at these pictures I can't believe how much Peter changed in just a month! I also can't believe how many pictures we took!

Peter is growing crazy fast. At 6 weeks old he is already in 3 month clothes as well as some 3-6 month.
Here is his growth chart:

Newborn = 8.5 lbs
2 weeks = 9 lbs 10 oz
4 weeks = 12 lbs
6 weeks = 14 lbs

That's almost a pound a week...

We saw our family practitioner and I asked her about Peter's weight gain. She said not to worry about it - that it's great. She said since he's exclusively breastfed it is brown fat, which actually protects against adult obesity. If he were formula fed she said I would be overfeeding him.

He eats about every 2-4 hours. He is such a good sleeper. At night he gives me a 4 hour stretch usually, wakes up to eat, goes right back to sleep and sleeps until 6 or so. Most mornings he is fussy (which is usually the only time he is fussy). I attribute it to not burping during the night because he's too tired. If he doesn't burp he squirms and squirms! He grunts all the time and has since he was newborn. It cracks everyone up.

He tries to mimic us when we're talking to him or making baby sounds. I was clucking my tongue at him the other day and he clucked back! He loves being sung to and Benjamin is so good at calming him down by singing to him. It's adorable.

See any resemblance here?! This is an ultrasound picture from 15 weeks. It's amazing.

Best buds already

Grandma and Grampa Bear came to visit as they brought Aunt Jacqueline to the airport. We're glad she was able to see him before she left town!

My mom came over one night when Lamoni was gone to help me give Peter his first bath at 5 days old. I couldn't stand the smell of sour milk on him. Babies are supposed to smell sweet! We gave him a bath in the white bowl on the counter. He didn't cry so I think that means he liked it. :-) I have since realized the sour milk smell comes from his neck rolls where milk gets caught. I have to clean the rolls out daily!

Our morning ritual.

We went to church the Sunday after he was born. Isn't this suit adorable?! He only got to wear it twice before he outgrew it sadly.

1 week old:

Deruchette came one night and we got the first cousin pic of Qunisa and Peter. They are about a month apart in age.

Lamoni with both babies - Qunisa on the left and Peter on the right

First bath in the bathtub. Benjamin always helps me bath him. He washes his legs and arms and I wash everything else. Peter happily complies.

At 2 weeks old we went to a family reunion on Lamoni's side. It was outside so I was a little nervous about it, but he did great and we had nice shade to stay cool. Here he is with cousin Nahaeva.

Benjamin had a blast playing outside and with cousins there.

We stopped to see great-grandma Mary on the way to the reunion.

The Sunday after the reunion we held Peter's baby blessing in Bloomfield since all of Lamoni's family was there. It was spur of the moment and the Bishop was kind enough to accommodate it after Sacrament meeting in the high council room. My family all drove up to be there. There were enough people in there to have been a branch!

More 2 week old pix:

He loves his swing that Aunt Kathy gave him. The blanket was made by Aunt Jacqueline.

First shopping trip with the boys. It's surprisingly not much harder to shop with 2 than 1.

Faith and Jason's beloved exchange student, Marie, completed her year here and went back to Germany. So sad! She had become part of the family.

For the first few weeks he would be up for a couple hours each night - mainly because we had to change his very full diaper and he would wake up from that! These cute pajamas are from Grandma Kara.

3 weeks old:

The rolls are starting to accumlate!

We try to do service for someone each Sunday. This Sunday we heart attacked a lady's door from church who has been battling breast cancer. Benjamin helped me do it while Lamoni waited in the car with Peter this time. He was so quiet and such a big help! I put the tape on the hearts and he stuck them all on there (I obviously stuck on the higher ones). He was SO proud and loved it.

Aunt Grace and Uncle Jacob

Great Aunt Kathy was here around his due date and wanted him to come so badly, but he came a few days late so she wasn't here. She managed to fit in a trip a few weeks later to hold him.

Uncle Michael left for his mission to Washington D.C. South. He is very missed. The other day Benjamin said out of the blue, "Mom, remember King Michael?" (that's what Michael had Benjamin call him...)

3 weeks still. He is so quietly observant.

I asked Lamoni to take this before and after picture of me because I thought it was pretty cool to see Peter in and out. Here he is at full term and then at 3 weeks.

People ask me how it is with 2 kids. It's not much different - just a little louder (actually not much), a little messier (much) and it takes about 5 times as long to get out the door, but besides that it's the same! I even have them on the same nap schedule. That's how I'm able to catch up on pictures right now. :-)

I let him sleep on his tummy sometimes when I'm around.

1st signs of smiling at us at 4 weeks.

I love that face especially on the left!

Benjamin helping me make cookies to ding dong ditch one Sunday. He tried out the powdered sugar and I came back and he was eating it directly from the bowl. He told me, "Mom, this stuff is DELICIOUS!"

I laid him on Benjamin's bed while putting away laundry in his room and he fell asleep. Sometimes I let him lie with Benjamin during naptime. Benjamin loves that...possibly because it delays falling asleep for awhile. :-)
