May

Peter has been talking a ton the last few weeks. He is such a funny guy and is such a people person. Today in testimony meeting at church when people were tearing up he'd turn to me and scrunch up his face like he was sad and say "she sad! she sad!" repeated over and over until I acknowledged him. Then he'd yell, "Dada! Dada! She sad!" repeated til Lamoni acknowledged him... And on through Papa and Grandma. It's so nice having my parents there. Both boys go back and forth between the rows. Benjamin usually ends up with Joy and Peter makes a beeline to Papa.

From the time Peter wakes up til he goes down he is almost constantly asking for "Moana" or "away away" (a song from Moana). He finds the movie too scary, but he likes the youtube video clips with the songs. He sings the last word of most lines. As soon as a song is over he asks for it again. Right before Moana he was obsessed with Boss Baby. He would act out parts from the movie and beg to watch it nonstop.

We're working on colors but he would rather count things than anything else. He loves numbers and counting. He happily goes to nursery every week and looks like a start student. He plays nicely with the other kids (thank goodness his hitting stage ended mostly before nursery) and sits in his chair for snack time and lesson. Everyone comments on white blonde hair and adores his curls in the back. We occasionally contemplate cutting them but never carry through.

Benjamin is as mature as ever. He still balances out Peter's exuberance with his lack thereof. We finished his preschool book and he's now working in a kindergarten curriculum. He is reading a little more fluidly, but still mostly just 3 letter words. His love language is quality time and would happily play side by side me or Lamoni for hours. In fact, he does sit at our kitchen bar for hours coloring, making things, playing with legos. He occupies himself all day and rarely ever fusses or asks for help. He is extremely patient with Peter and adores him. Peter loves him too and is constantly telling him "Ben! Jump! Ben! C'mon! Ben! Stop (Dop)!" He pushes on the back of Benjamin and steers him to wherever he wants him to go. Sometimes that's in the toilet and he shoves him in there, closes the door and stands in front of it. If Benjamin tries to come out Peter will scream at him and shove him back in...this can go on for awhile.

Peter calls himself "Pete Pete". He'll say, "Pete Pete sad." or "Pete Pete do it!!" He's also big into "My mama!" If another kid even looks at me he rushes to me, grabs my legs and while glaring at them yells "my mama!"
Benjamin still says 3 words incorrectly that I haven't corrected because it's so cute. He says "apartment marker" instead of "a permanent marker" and "uncle-hol" instead of "alcohol" and "opposed to" instead of "supposed to". It's adorable. He tries to sound so grown up.

Someone still doesn't like to sleep. He was scared in his room so I told him he could lie in the hall. He laid right next to the stairs so he could be as close as possible to us downstairs.

Someone else LOVES sleeping. I tried to get this picture of him asleep but he opened his eyes when it flashed. He begs me for nap time and if he's tired he'll tell me "I sleep" and lie down on the floor - no matter where we are.

Last Joy School!

Movie session while I was teaching. I guess I had the air conditioner too low.

Grandma Bear (and Sybrina, Jordan and Samantha) all came to stay with us for Mother's Day so Lamoni could spoil us all.

Peter still loves to hold Nathaniel even though he's almost as big as him.

Benjamin and Miss Lisa in action.

He couldn't just play on the slides...

They both love to swing. Sometimes we go to the park and just swing. Benjamin learned how to pump his legs! Joy taught him.

Peter and Benjamin play like bear cubs often.

Grandma Kara and all her grand kids!

This is how well potty training is going. ;-)

Joy School graduation at the Foster's house.

Benjamin and Hazel are good buddies.

The leftovers of our freak hail storm.

We got the chance to watch Lamoni's chidhood friend's kids. The older one and Benjamin played 3 hours solid without stopping.

I just love his complexion.

Showing the boys how it's done.

Peter has been very attached to me lately. He is usually within arms reach of me all day.

Here's another "I sleep" picture.

Peter is always the pusher and Benjamin is always the rider. Always. Stroller, cart, toys, bike...

Visiting with Grandma Mary

Peter had a joint birthday celebration with Qunisa (and about 5 other people) this year. Joys of being part of a big family. We didn't do another celebration for him because it snuck up on me somehow, but I'm sure we will next year.

Grammy sent Peter a couple cute outfits and a dollar. He was mostly excited about the card!

Sometimes he's so dirty I don't even bother wiping him down and just plop him in the sink.
